Stranger Swings is the band's most ambitious outing to date, mixing vintage swing tracks such as Yes, I Do Declare featuring Rachael Roberts with darker, sample heavy breakbeat tracks such as One Big Con featuring Tom Robinson. The album is much more focussed on vocals and properly structured songs than Clockwork Curiosities, and features guest appearances by Professor Elemental, Keith M Thomson (The Penny Black Remedy), Rachael Roberts, The Gravity Drive, the band’s regular live singer Fey Pink, as well as two guest vocals by BBC 6 Music presenter and singer/bassist Tom Robinson. Guitarist Neal X (Sigue Sigue Sputnik, The Montecristos, Marc Almond) also adds his multi-layered guitar licks to the opening track.
